We believe exceptional wine begins long before the grapes reach the winery. It begins with understanding the land, observing the vines carefully, and making thoughtful, informed decisions throughout the growing season. Rather than forcing the vineyard toward a specific result, we make decisions based on what we observe and respond to what each site and vintage gives us.
The Vineyard Guides the Wine
Our Lake County vineyards were chosen for their distinctive conditions and their ability to produce fruit with character, balance, and clarity. Throughout the season, we remain closely involved in their care, continually assessing the vines and adapting our approach as conditions change.
Every season is different. Weather, soil moisture, vine growth, and fruit development change from year to year, and those differences require us to adapt. We use the information we gather to understand what is happening in the vineyard and to continually refine how we farm.

Science Guides the Decisions
Our scientific backgrounds shape the way we farm. We believe that good farming begins with observation and is strengthened by measurement.
Throughout the growing season, we monitor soil and vine conditions, analyze mineral availability and plant nutrition, and follow factors such as sugar development, acidity, pH, and fruit maturity. But numbers are only part of the picture. We walk the vineyard, taste the fruit, and respond to what we see as the season unfolds. Science guides our decisions; nature sets the conditions.
Our goal is simple: to grow exceptional grapes, make honest wines, and allow the distinctive character of our Lake County vineyards to come through in every bottle.
